COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- It’s been nearly 40 years since the Tennessee Tech tennis team has faced off against Mississippi State as Tech visits the tenth ranked Bulldogs Sunday at 5 p.m. CT in Starkville. This weekend’s match marks the third nationally ranked opponent for the Golden Eagles this spring.
The Bulldogs are 5-0 this season with all wins coming against ranked opponents. State’s roster is stacked with two players in the top 100 singles and three in the top 60 for doubles. Tech holds an overall record of 0-7, with all matches being on the road.
Golden Eagle senior Syrym Abdukhalikov continues his impressive play this season, posting a team leading 5-0 singles record along with two unfinished matches. Sophomore Artem Tarasov and Junior Vasily Eremeev own a 4-2 record in doubles with an unfinished match coming against Tennessee in the season opener.
