BLOOMINGTON, IND.-- The first day of the Indiana University Invitational kicked off with some doubles action this morning followed by a singles match in the afternoon.
Josh Girling and James Crawford advanced to the semi-final round where they fell to Bobby Deye and Brian Starr from Xavier University, 3-8. The English duo captured wins over IUPUI and Toledo. Tech will attempt to continue their success tomorrow morning.
Freshmen team of John Taylor and John Proctor also won a match for Tennessee Tech after dropping first two doubles matches.
The day continued with the first round of the singles matches where Girling proceeded to excel by taking a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Leo Sarria from Toledo.
The four other players from Tech fell in their first round matches but will try to rebound tomorrow for the second round of singles play.
Doubles matches begin at 8:30 tomorrow morning and will be followed by singles play at 11:30.
