SAPPHIRE, N.C. – It's the final event of the fall season for the Tennessee Tech men's golf team as the Golden Eagles will head east for the Hummingbird Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina.
The 54-hole event, held at the par-71, 6,767-yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley, will run from Sunday, Nov. 3 through Tuesday, Nov. 5. Play will begin on Sunday at approximately 8:30 a.m. CT.
The 10-team field will be made up of 56 participants. Tech will join fellow Ohio Valley Conference member and in-state rival Belmont in the tournament. This season marks the first time the event will play three rounds, having never played more than two.
Here's an alphabetical look at the participating squads:
The Golden Eagles are looking to close out its successful fall season on a positive note, looking for another top 5 finish, having grabbed two in four events so far.
"Our team has made incredible strides this semester," said head coach Polk Brown. "We have become more and more consistent, and I believe we have an excellent opportunity in front of us at Western Carolina. We have had solid play all around, and the team looks forward to closing out the fall on a strong note."
The starting five for the Golden Eagles will see several changes this weekend. Mitch Thomas will take the top spot after performing exceedingly well over the past several events. Also different is the absence of Bryce Kendrick, who is currently playing in an international tournament with his father. Maxx Verble will take his spot for the event.
