COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech senior forward Alfred Jones will be playing in the 4th Annual Music City All-Star Classic, which will take place on Saturday, April 16 at 8:00 p.m. at Fisk University. The Classic - which is comprised of a 3-point contest, slam dunk contest and all star game – puts Jones in the company of some of the best senior college basketball players in Tennessee in 2011 including Jordan Campbell (Belmont), Jon House (Belmont), Justin Tubbs (ETSU), Caleb Brown (Austin Peay), Jeremy Saffore (UTC), Joe Duffy (Vanderbilt), Josh Slater and Brandon Brown (Lipscomb) to name a few.
Previous Golden Eagles who have played in the Music City All-Star Classic include Amadi McKenzie, Anthony Fisher and Daniel Northern. McKenzie won the slam dunk contest in 2008.
Jones finished his career as Tech's all-time leader in shooting accuracy, recording a percentage of .640 (288-450) over his three seasons at Tech. During his senior campaign, Jones recorded 275 points and 150 rebounds for an average of 8.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Over the course of his career he scored 689 points and grabbed 388 boards in 95 games played for the Golden Eagles.
Other schools participating in the classic are Cumberland, Trevecca, MTSU, Freed Hardeman and Martin Methodist, among others. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students with IDs.
This event is a great event for the Nashville community and provides an opportunity for the Music City to host senior athlete talent from various Universities in Tennessee. This classic will exemplify the "Last Show Off of Tennessee Talent" before they move to the next level or further their careers in another field.
