Golden Eagles resume conference play against EIU Panthers Sunday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Coming off of a huge 113-42 non-conference win over Hiwassee College Thursday night, the Tennessee Tech men's basketball team gets back into OVC play in game two of Sunday's doubleheader against the Panthers of Eastern Illinois. The opening tip of the men's game is schedule for 4 p.m.

Currently ranked third in the OVC with a record of 1-0, the Golden Eagles are just one of three teams that remain undefeated early on in conference play. Tech scraped a hard-fought 64-62 win over Jacksonville State on the road in its OVC opener.

Eastern Illinois, meanwhile, is riding a 1-1 record in the OVC and a 4-6 record overall. The Panthers' trip to Cookeville will break a four-game home stint, during which EIU went 2-2 – suffering losses to Austin Peay and Ball State, while notching wins over Tennessee State and Western Illinois.

Since the 1981-82 season, Tech has garnered a 19-12 lead over EIU in the lifetime series, but split games with the Panthers during the past two seasons.
