Golden Eagle basketball team to hold open practice Saturday
Tripleheader of activities Saturday:
Parade, hoops practice and Homecoming game
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Fans can get an early look at the men's basketball team Saturday when coach Mike Sutton's squad holds an 11 a.m. practice open to the public. It makes Saturday a triple-header, with the practice between the Homecoming parade and football game.
The team has been hard at work year-round with off-season workouts, and has been on the practice floor as a team since Oct. 16. Tech’s five newcomers have been making strides to get themselves ready for the tip-off of the 2009-10 season.
“Those young guys are going to have to play,” Sutton said. “In our league a lot of times young guys are going to have to come in and play as freshmen.”
The Golden Eagles will host an exhibition against Bluefield College on Nov. 5 before opening the regular season on the road at Minnesota on Nov. 13. Tech will play its first home game on Nov. 23 against Oakland University.
