AT TECH (In 2011): Matt moved from a redshirt year onto the field to begin his playing career for the Golden Eagles in 2011...saw time on the field against Maryville College on Sept. 8 and Murray State on Nov. 5.

AT TECH (In 2010): Matt joined the Golden Eagle roster as a walk-on and spent a redshirt season...expected to join the team when classes began, he was invited to join the 90-player roster when an injury opened a spot early in fall camp...used that early opportunity to begin learning Tech's system...practiced with the scout teams.

HIGH SCHOOL: Playing for his father, coach Dickie Brown, Matt spent time at three different Upper Cumberland area high schools...played his freshman season at White County High School in Sparta...was at Clay County High School in Celina as a sophomore and junior...found his most success as a senior at York Institute in Jamestown as a senior, helping the team reach the Class 3A TSSAA semifinals and achieve the best season in school history...a runningback and linebacker...rushed for more than 1,300 yards his final two seasons and topped 100 tackles each of those years...three-time selection on the all-Upper Cumberland team...named Upper Cumberland Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and senior...three-time all-region and earned all-state honors as a senior...also named Best Linebacker in the region in his final campaign...played basketball as a freshman, and lettered in basketball his final three years.
