COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- In their hearts, they will always know they are champions. Now, they also have a visible memory of their 2013 Ohio Valley Conference championship wrapped around their fingers.
Members of the Tennessee Tech baseball team were recognized recently when they were awarded championship rings for capturing the 2013 OVC title. The ceremony took place at halftime of a basketball game in Eblen Center.
In addition to most of the 2013 squad who played a role in winning the regular season OVC title and setting a school record with 40 victories, the newest members of coach Matt Bragga's team were also introduced. They will join a solid group of returning players in their bid to repeat the crown in 2014.
TTU Director of Athletics Mark Wilson presented the rings at midcourt. It was the team's third Ohio Valley Conference championship in the last five years, adding to titles won in 2009 and 2010. After all of the players accepted their rings, the coaching staff followed.
Finally, the team was presented with the 2013 OVC Trophy, which they displayed proudly.
