COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Gold team only needed three games to secure themselves a win in the annual Purple-Gold Fall Series, clinching the series with a sweep Tuesday night in Bush Stadium.
With a two-all tie holding through the bottom of the fifth, the entire sixth and the top of the seventh, senior Casanova Donaldson ripped his only hit of the day to deliver a deep double to center field that sent Tevis Sherfield from first base home for the walk-off win.
Michael Morris and Will Thomas each went 1-2 on the day, contributing the Gold team's other two RBI's. Sherfield batted 2-3, but made one of his biggest contributions of the night in the top of the fourth inning with a diving catch in right field to end the inning with one man left on base.
Four players on the Purple team contributed hits for the day, led by Austin Wulf and Chad Oberacker who each brought in one run.
The team will still hold two more intersquad games this week, scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. and Friday at 3 p.m.
