COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech athletics department is proud to announce the addition of David Carter as a Facilities Coordinator and Mary Gray Johnson as a Graduate Assistant in the Compliance office.
A Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., native and former Tennessee Tech student, David Carter joins the Facilities and Events staff as a Facilities Coordinator.
A Tech graduate in the spring of 2012, Carter majored in interdisciplinary studies. His responsibilities as Facilities Coordinator include field maintenance and preparation, assisting in game management, and helping coordinate the Purple Pride Caravans.
“I’m thrilled to be able to come back and work at my alma mater,” an enthusiastic Carter claimed. “The Tennessee Tech community has meant so much to me over the years, so to be able to continue to be part of such a close-knit group is exciting.”
Carter attended Red Boiling Springs High School where he lettered in golf and was the team captain his senior season.
Mary Gray Johnson, a recent graduate of Tennessee Tech, has joined the Athletics staff at her alma mater where she will serve as a Graduate Assistant in the Compliance office.
Johnson graduated in the spring of 2012, earning a bachelor of arts degree in exercise science and physical wellness with a concentration in sports administration. Last year, she was a Graduate Assistant in Tech’s Exercise Science department, before making the move over to compliance for this year.
Johnson played soccer at TTU for three seasons between 2008 and 2011, suiting up as a midfielder and goalkeeper for the Golden Eagles. She was on the 2009 team that made it to the Ohio Valley Conference championship game.
Aside from her duties at Tech, Johnson is also an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Cookeville High School, and is the head coach of the U-14 girls club team of the Upper Cumberland United Soccer club.
During her time at Tech, Johnson previously served as an intern under Coordinator of Compliance/Special Events Mandy Thatcher, where she assisted with event management, managed student-athlete documentation, and prepared NCAA waivers.
Born in Atlanta, Johnson grew up in Madisonville, Tenn., and attended Sequoyah High School, where she was honored three times on the all-county team for soccer.
