Nancy Greene works behind-the-scenes with Tennessee Tech
Athletics, but without her vigilant watch and informed work, no
Golden Eagle student-athlete would make a basket, score a touchdown
and shoot a birdie. Greene serves as the Administrative Assistant
for NCAA Certification in Tech’s Office of Records and
Registration, a position she has held since 1993 except for brief
stints in the offices of Internal Audit and Affirmative Action.
A native of Johnson City, Tenn., and graduate of Science Hill High
School, she went on to receive three degrees. First came a
bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University in biology
in 1979. She went on to add a master’s in 1981 and Ph.D. in
1985, both in animal science from the University of Tennessee.
While she doesn’t work directly with Tech’s
student-athletes, she is a key person in their certification and
eligibility, as well as monitoring their continued progress toward
a degree.
Working closely with both the Academics and Compliance personnel
within Athletics, Greene also compiles and submits Tech’s
annual APR and GSR reports and works toward resolving any
eligibility issues that arise. She monitors scheduling and
progress of the more than 300 Tech student-athletes to ensure that
any schedule changes comply with requirements and keep the athletes
moving toward graduation.
Knowledgeable in all NCAA eligibility and compliance rules, Greene
works with incoming freshmen for their initial eligibility, and to
ensure that transfer students’ transcripts are in compliance
and meet TTU requirements. She also keeps updated on all
current student-athletes and works with academic advisors.
Nancy and her husband Bruce, a TTU agriculture professor, have
been married 28 years and have two grown children, daughter Mary
and son Andy.
