Roy Edward McGinty, native of Auburn, Alabama, has been hired as the Development Coordinator here at Tennessee Tech. He will serve under the direct leadership of Kevin Bostian.
McGinty and his family relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in 1997. He is a graduate of McGavock High School class of 2002. Roy Edward went on to play college baseball at the JUCO and NAIA level. After eligibility he transferred to Tennessee State University to receive his bachelor’s degree in Education in 2008.
McGinty was a coach and teacher for Metro Nashville Public Schools prior to entering graduate school at Middle Tennessee State University. He completed his M.S. in Leisure and Sport Management with a concentration in Development and Fund-raising. Roy Edward served as the Graduate Assistant for the Blue Raider Athletic Association in 2011-12.
As a young professional in Development, McGinty has a passion for relationship building and the stewardship of those relationships to the benefit of Tennessee Tech Athletics. In his personal time, he actively works with several non-profits in Middle Tennessee. He is involved with Cityscape in Cookeville and is a prospect for the Leadership Putnam class for 2013-14. His hobbies are traveling the world, culinary arts and writing his professional development blog titled “Dreamist to Surrealist”.
He is following a similar career path as his dad, Marty McGinty, who worked over 20 years in intercollegiate athletics at Auburn and Vanderbilt.
